Die BFL- Wolle von Gretchen aus Vermont spinnt sich herrlich und auf dem Schärrahmen wächst eine Kette für drei Schals.

The BFL- wool from Gretchen from Vermont is wonderful for spinning and the warp for the three scarfs on the warping board is growing.

Bei Chantimanou habe ich gesehen, wie man sich einen Kammzug von der Kardiermaschine zieht. Ich fand das ja erst ein bisschen überflüssig, habe es aber trotzdem mal ausprobiert .Und siehe da .. Die Idee erwies sich als ziemlich gut, denn die Spinnwolle ist prima zum Spinnen vorbereitet.

At Chantimanou I’ve seen how to pull a combed top of a drum carder. I thought it was a little bit unnecessary but I tried it anyways. And surprisingly the idea turned out to be great because the spinning wool is now perfectly prepared for spinning.

Naja und da ich keinen Diz besitze tut es auch ein großer Knopf.

Well and since I don’t own a Diz a big button will have to do the job.

Der Plan ist ein Schal nach diesem Einzug.

Planned is to make a scarf after this Draft I developed this this Rosepath-Tabby-Twill for towels years ago.

Diesen Rosepath – Tabby -Twill hatte ich vor Jahren für Handtücher entworfen . Jetzt sollen die Rissstreifen nicht an den Rand sondern in die Mitte des Gewebes .

Und jetzt könnte ich mir den Einzug gut für weiche Schals mit bunten Ripsstreifen vorstellen . aber mehr wird noch nicht verraten….😉

And now I could Imagine using that draft for nice scarf with coloured Repstripes in the middle. But I don’t want to tell too much yet…

Aber es ist noch nicht soweit , dass ich mit dem Weben anfangen könnte. Und heute habe ich genäht. Neben einem Top ein Furoshiki.

It’s not ready to start weaving yet. And today I sewed. Next to a top a Furoshiki.

Eigentlich ist ein Furoshiki ja die japanische Antwort auf Geschenkpapier. Also etwas zum Einpacken und transportieren.

A Furoshiki actually is the Japanese answer to wrapping paper. So something for wrapping and transporting things.

Strickzeug will ja auch immer transportiert werden ! Z.B morgens im Zug etc.

Knitting supplies always want to be transported! I.e. in the train in the mornings.

Ich habe ein schönes Furoshiki -Tuch, das ich ein bisschen bearbeiten wollte und so entstand ein kleiner Furoshiki- Beutel mit nur einer Naht. I have a nice Furoshiki fabric that I wanted to process. And that’s how a small Furoshiki bag with just one seam was created.

So und zum Schluss gibt`s es noch eine kleine Modenschau der beiden übrigen Kreationen der letzten Wochen.

Bei den SAORI Webern gibt es tolle Schnittmuster für Handgewebtes und dieses Stück entstand ohne Verschnitt !

SAORI Weavers have great patterns to make wearables of handwovens without waste.

Upcycling .. also das Umarbeiten von Kleidungstücken, die man so nicht mehr tragen mag, war mein Thema in den letzten Wochen. Teilweise gewollt , wenn es um meine Lieblingsjeans geht, die immer dünner wird und dauernd reißt, oder beim Mouse-Täschchen, dass aus kleinen Webresten entstand. Aber durchaus auch ganz unfreiwillig und ungewollt, wenn der wunderschön gestrickte Pulli eigentlich nur ganz leicht angeflitzt werden sollte, aber dann doch eher im Kinderformat aus der Waschmaschine kam und man sich nicht damit abfinden kann, dass ein halbes Jahr stricken umsonst gewesen sein soll….

Aber eins nach dem anderen

Erstmal zeig ich mal Bein ;O)

Upcycling… so the changes on my clothing that I don’t wear too much, was my subject in the last weeks. Partially on purpose if it’s about my favorite pair of jeans that keeps getting thinner and keeps on ripping, or or with the mouse-pocket which was made out of weaving leftovers. Though partially unwanted and involuntary, when the knitted sweater was supposed to be felted just a little bit, but it came out of the washer in children’s size and I just couldn’t just let it be, half a year of weaving for nothing…
But first things first
First, let me show some leg ;O)

Endlich eine Verwendung für mein schönes Streifenband, das vor Jahren aus der Restkette vom Pebble -Weave -Schlangenband entstanden war.

Ich komme ja gerade wegen meines berufsbegleitenden Studiums und neuer Arbeitsstelle nicht so richtig zum Weben. In der Webschule Dienstags ist mein fester Termin, aber zu Hause erlaube ich mir erst wieder den Webstuhl einzurichten, wenn alle Hausarbeiten und die Masterthesis geschrieben sind😂.

So I don’t really have a lot of time for weaving because of my part-time studies and my new job. In my weaving class on Tuesdays is my scheduled time, but at home I won’t let myself prepare a my loom when all the chores and master thesis are done.

Aber mal schnell an die Nähmaschine gehen und zwischen durch zur Prokrastination aus den Saori-Webresten ein kleines Beutelchen für die PC – Maus nähen, muss schon mal sein !

But quickly using the sewing machine and every now and then crafting a small bag for my computer mouse between procrastinations and from guides from Saori – websites, is just irresistible !!

Aber dann gibt es auch die Upcycling Erfordernisse , die eigentlich nur noch mit Schadensbegrenzung zu beschreiben sind……

But then there are the up cycling requirements that actually are just there to limit the damage…

Seit einem halben Jahr stricke ich am wunderschönen Modell „Studio“ von Hanne Falkenberg.

Since half a year I’m working on the beautiful model „Studio“ by Hanne Falkenberg.Weil ich die Falkenberg – Wolle , die mit den Strickpaketen kommt nicht so mag und gerade total begeistert von der Geilsk Wolle ( Merino/Baumwolle) bin,

Since I don’t really like the Falkenberg wool and I just love the Geilsk wool right now (Merino/cotton), blieb mir nichts weiter übrig, als mir die Strickanleitung selbst auszuknobeln.

Soweit so gut . Mit Hilfe von anderen Strickern wie z.b . Den Bildern , die Ivar Asplund in seinem Blog zeigt , könnte ich erfolgreich das Muster austüfteln.

So far so good. With the help of other knitters like for example the images that Ivar Asplund shows in his blog I was able to recreate the first pattern.
The second thought after the sweater got a little big was to felt it a little bit. So I made a felting test and I was very happy with the results.

Der nächste Gedanke war, nachdem der Pulli etwas reichlich geraten war, ihn ein bisschen anzufilzen. Ich hatte eine Filzprobe gemacht und war sehr zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis.

Genauso habe ich dann auch den fertigen Pulli in der Waschmaschine gefilzt, aber das Ergebnis war ein echtes Fiasko! Die Filzprobe auf dem missglückten Ergebnis kann man oben sehen. In Kindergrösse kam der Pulli heraus. Mit kräftig Ziehen und Dehnen konnte er noch etwas gestreckt werden, aber die Ärmel blieben zu kurz und der Pulli war jetzt eher fest. Eigentlich wie eine Jacke.

I felted the actual sweater the same way, in the laundry machine, but the result was a real fiasco! You can see the felting test above. The sweater came out in children’s size. After pulling on it strongly and stretching it I managed to make it a little bit better, but the arms are still too short and the whole thing is pretty firm, more like a jacket.Und jetzt beginnt das Upcycling…. Mit etwas Mut habe ich das Vorderteil aufgeschnitten. das war so gefilzt, dass da nix mehr aufrippeln konnte und eine I- Cord Kante gestrickt.

And now starts the up cycling… It took some courage to cut open the front part. It was so felted that I couldn’t even unravel it, so I knitted a I- cord edge.

Gerade bin ich noch dabei die Ärmel mit Patenbündchen zu verlängern, und ich glaube das wird richtig gut.

Wie immer bei mir… …..Ganz anders als ursprünglich geplant,………

but with an unsuspected result
